    ICANN Meeting Held in London

    Date published: 22 June 2014

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) holds its 50th public meeting of global stakeholders on June 22-26 in London, UK, and its high-level governmental meeting is to hold on June 23.

The meeting is attended by the Executive President of the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) Hisham El-Alayli, presiding a high-level delegation representing Egypt’s government.

The meeting carries on the trend started in the meeting held in Toronto, Canada in October 2012 which was a great opportunity to discuss with ministers issues of common interest on internet governance and restructuring the organization.

The London meeting aims at promoting dialogue and exchanging opinions between governments. It will display a number of reports of consultative organizations and committees—which in turn conduct a number of meetings, sessions and workshops—among which are the Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC), the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALA), the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) and the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO).

During the meeting, NTRA is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ICANN to cooperate in establishing a DNS Entrepreneurship Center in Egypt.
