    FOSS Strategy Event Next Week

    The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC), of the  Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), will hold an event entitled “Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Strategy Road Mapping” on June 26 at ITIDA premises in Smart Village.
    In March 2014, The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) announced the activation of the national strategy to support the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) uses in Egypt, which its main features were showcased during Cairo ICT Trade Fair and Forum on 9-12 December 2013. MCIT mandated SECC, as the government focal point, to coordinate efforts of all stakeholders to activate the FOSS strategy.
    FOSS Strategy Road Mapping is the first of a series of events forming part of the strategy implementation plan. The event is intended to engage the industry, government, customer and society in the planning and execution of the strategy. It will introduce key aspects of the strategy, stakeholders of the existing ecosystem, as well as presenting a number of success stories already operating in Egypt.
    The event seeks the input of decision makers in the ICT industry, government and society to shape the initiatives and programs constituting the strategy implementation plan.
