    CULTNAT Hosts Egyptian Moulids!

    Date published: 13 March 2013

CULTNAT hosts the Moulid Exhibition from 19 March to 22 April, 2013.

Being part of Egypt’s long history, Moulids (Egyptian folklore celebrations) date back as far as to Ancient Egypt, when monarchs were celebrated as gods and goddesses. In modern Moulids, some local religious figures have replaced Pharaonic deities.

There are hundreds of Coptic and Muslim Moulids taking place throughout Egypt.

Hundreds of thousands, sometime, a million people gather to enjoy the festivities and to attend religious dancing and singing.

Javier Menendez Bonilla, a Spanish Photographer with passion for reportage, is dedicating the Moulids’ photos he captured all over the Egyptian territory to photography passionate public.

It’s his particular love for Egypt where he lived between 2006-2010, that made him develop a personal photographic project around Moulids.

CULTNAT has the pleasure to show part of his work for the first time in its gallery this year.

Bonilla has devoted much time and effort to the creation of photography competitions, including the creation of the EU Delegation Photo Competition in Egypt; he was also a member of the jury in several photo contests.
