    Egypt Participates at Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Azerbaijan

    The seventh annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) hosted in Baku, Azerbaijan during 6-9 November 2012, witnesses a strong Egyptian participation.

    This year, IGF comes under the theme “Internet Governance for Sustainable Human, Economic and Social Development”.

    IGF is to discuss a number of vital issues relevant to internet policies. On top comes achieving maximum benefit of internet in economic and social development fields, ensuring freedom of multilingualism and multiculturalism on internet and discussing, exchanging and availing from international expertise in cyberspace management.
    During the Forum, Egypt is to share its pioneering experience in ICT field. Egypt strongly participates in three events related to internet and climate change, socio-economic impact of internet and child online safety.

    The Dynamic Coalition meeting on Child Online Safety aims to create a permanent, open platform for discussion on fundamental and practical issues related to child online safety within the agenda of the Internet Governance Forum, ensuring dialogue among representatives from children's organizations, government, industry, academia and other civil society groups.

    Egypt is one of the main founding members of this coalition since 2008. This year, Egypt delegation is to present the achievements in the field of child online safety within a year since the IGF 2011 in Nairobi till IGF 2012 in Baku.
    Discussions also tackle internet access to a large number of users, freedom of expression, freedom of information and ideas on the internet, as well as building local capabilities to raise usage efficiency.

    The book identifies systemic and structural impacts related to the creation of a framework for Internet governance; in which IGF is viewed by participants as work in progress. The study combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies. It includes insights from acknowledged experts, personal interviews and statistical analysis.

    This booklet has been prepared for the IGF 2009 Sharm El Sheikh. It defines the concept and explains the history of Internet governance. The booklet also provides an inclusive explanation on the Internet governance five basket methodology and Internet governance stakeholders.
    The Cyber Peace Initiative at The Internet Governance Forum

    The Cyber Peace Initiative at IGF brochure provides information about the number of activities and workshops that will take place on the sidelines of the Internet Governance Forum. CPI’s work revolves around using ICT to spread a culture of peace and empower youth in a safe knowledge society.
