    SECC Launches the 8th SPIG Program

    Software Engineering Competence Center, SECC, an affiliate of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency Information, "ITIDA", announces the launch of the eighth round of the application program "Software Process Implementation Guide", SPIG 2012 specifically designed to support small and medium software companies.

    SECC program aims at improving the quality of software products of these companies and upgrading their technical standards by using the latest software development methods, by relying on the criteria derived from the Capability Maturity Model Integration CMMI.  The program is considered an initial step on the way of enabling small and medium enterprises to join different levels of CMMI program.

    The "Software Process Implementation Guide" SPIG contains the guiding steps, procedures and detailed models to improve the work methodology and facilitate the developing process of software quality, in addition to providing an electronic copy thereof to make it easy to use as package tools by software companies.

    The acceptance of admission applications for this yearís program process began on February 5th and will last for 3 weeks, to be followed by examining the companiesí applications and notifying the nominated companies by e-mail to complete the enrollment procedures.

    The program duration is 7 months, starting with an induction seminar of the participating companies to introduce them to implementation stages, followed by 11 days training for companies; 2 employees of each company for two weeks, followed by executing 12 advisory visits for each company by the Centerís experts, the program concludes with an evaluation of what has been achieved during the previous period.

    Companies desiring to obtain these services should inquire about the conditions and criteria for selection and fill out application forms through SECC website, no later than February 29th.

    SPIG application program started in mid-2006 and during 7 successive courses, more than 120 companies have benefited of this initiative. Such initiative had a positive impact on participating companies, and in turn, they commended the big benefit from this program.

    More of those companies have joined another program to acquire CMMI, where actually 18 companies of which have acquired at the second and third technical level of this model, in addition to a large number on their way to obtain those two levels.
