    President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi approved the establishment of the National Council of Payments to reduce the use of cash and promote electronic payments. The Council is headed by President el-Sisi and the council members include the Prime Minister, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) governor, the Minister of Defense, Minister of Finance, Minister of the Interior, the ICT Minister and a number of other ministers and senior officials.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the ICT Minister Yasser ElKady discussed the latest ICT developments and process for implementing the agreements signed with a number of Chinese companies to manufacture modern electronic devices in technology parks, denoting that the first Egyptian mobile phone would be manufactured during the second half of 2017.

    The ICT sector experts sees 2017 as the year of ICT growth in Egypt, where the sector topped other state sectors in growth rates, reaching 12.4% during the last quarter of 2016. The ICT sector contribution to GDP reached 16 billion Egyptian pounds, with an expected growth rate of 15 % by the end of the year.
