International Networking Event on ICT

The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), being the National Contact point (NCP) for the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) thematic priority under the 7th framework Program for Research and Technological Development (FP7), is honored to invite you to attend the first International Networking Event on Information and Communications Technologies Call 3 of 7th Framework Programs for Research and Technological Development organized by the Egyptian NCP for ICT. The event will be held in Cairo on the 14-15 November 2007.

 

 

International Networking Event

 

The main purpose of the Event is to facilitate networking between European and Egyptian researchers and developers in the ICT field in order to build consortia for the upcoming FP7 ICT Call. Participants are expected to have a clear view of their project ideas, documented in an extended abstract.

 

The event is divided into two sections

Day 1: November 14th, 2007

The first day will focus on ICT Call 3 topics with special focus on Challenge 4: Digital libraries and content. Participants will provide presentations about their ideas to the audience to build their consortium.

 

Day 2: November 15th, 2007

The second day will focus on the Natural Language Processing (NLP) as a strong component related to the Digital Libraries challenge of ICT FP7. This day is dedicated to promoting NLP as one of the local research priorities and linking it to the FP7.

 

Call for papers

Extended abstracts are invited for our International networking event. The event language is English and abstracts should focus on technical topics, business or government case studies or visionary ideas within the scope of the event. Extended abstracts of 1,200 - 1,500 words must be registered via Online Registration by October 21st, 2007.

Your abstract should provide a clear overview of your proposed ideas using the following headings:

- Introduction - Issues to be addressed

- Objectives

- Methodology Used

- Technology or Business Case Description

- Conclusions and Summary Recommendations

It should focus on a research topic on which a case study, initial or final results can be published. All abstracts must highlight the level of innovation. General project descriptions are not appropriate.

 

Event Scope

 

As the event's main objective is to focus on ICT call 3, the papers submitted in the event should focus on one of the following subjects, keeping into consideration that the event has a special focus on Challenge 4"Digital Libraries and content":

  1. Challenge 2: Cognitive systems, interaction, robotics
    1. ICT-2007.2.2 Cognitive systems, interaction, robotics

  2. Challenge 4: Digital libraries and content
    1. ICT-2007.4.3 Digital libraries and technology-enhanced learning
    2. ICT-2007.4.4 Intelligent content and semantics

  3. Future and emerging technologies
    1. ICT-2007.8.4 Science of complex systems for socially intelligent ICT
    2. ICT-2007.8.5 Embodied intelligence
    3. ICT-2007.8.6 ICT forever yours
