Recognizing the importance of ensuring people’s safety on the Internet, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), since 2007, has taken concrete steps to create an ambitious program on Internet safety especially for children, in an attempt to keep pace with global trends. The Internet Safety Program was, therefore, established to respond to the increase of Internet use in Egypt especially among youth and children, and address the threats which children may face.
Since cyber world is a collective social responsibility, the National Committee for Child Online Protection was established to synchronize and coordinate efforts. In a cyber world, protecting families, preventing children abuse and keeping their privacy constitute main concerns.
Empower children to use the Internet while protecting them and enrooting the right principles.
§ Make the online world safer for children and their families
§ Prevent risks through identifying and promoting tools and methods in the cyber virtual world, making it a safer one
The Committee adopts a multi-lateral action approach involving parties concerned with child Internet safety issues to discuss different dimensions, devise plans and develop a full strategy for members.
